Carnival
We were delighted to win first place in the children’s category for our Pre-School float. This year, the theme was stories and book characters. The float was decorated with the children’s creations which including paintings of story characters painted by our wonderful Pre-Schoolers.
The children dressed up as book characters, including ‘a cat in the hat’, a very hungry caterpillar, a witch, a butterfly, bluey, a dalmatian, a builder, a rabbit, a tiger and a ladybird to name a few! The staff team dressed up as crayons from ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’.
The staff are extremely proud of how well the children sat on the float or walked alongside it with their parents and carers.
We would like to express our thanks to the Hadley’s for the use of the trailer, George and Heather Clarke for storing the tractor, Tesco for donating the food, the parents and committee for their help decorating the float and running the barbeque, the staff for their hard work leading up to and on the day and last but not least, our amazing pre-schoolers for their art work, dressing up and sitting so well on the float.
Lifecycles
Over the last few weeks, we have been all about lifecycles. As well as having tadpoles and ladybirds, we have introduced 5 little caterpillars into our Pre-School. We have been watching carefully over the last few weeks. They grew bigger and bigger and then moved up to the top of their pot and hardened.
This week, they have been placed in the net ready for the next stage of their transformation.
Hopefully we will be setting them free soon!
Smoothie Time!
One of our lovely Pre-Schoolers brought her smoothie maker into Pre-School. The children chopped up some fruit using safety knives and added it to the smooth maker to make a delicious smoothie for snack. A perfect treat for a hot day!
As the children were so enthusiastic about their smoothies, we transformed our role play area into a ‘kiosk’ selling healthy smoothies, juices and ice cream. The area included a selection of pretend fruits and
vegetables, weighing scales, a till with cards and money, jugs, bowls, whisks and spoons and beakers. We also included some recipes to follow with numbers of fruit to count and a menu.
