Feedback provided by the parents to the OFSTED inspector in June 2025.
'My son has been at pre school for roughly 18 months now. In that time we have witnessed him grow through pre school. He loves to come home and tell us about all the activities he has done. Every morning we are greeted with a smile, and the members of staff really make him feel welcome, they always remember all the little stories he has told them. He never looks back at drop off and can’t wait to go inside, this speaks volumes.
The communication between home and pre school is amazing, we always feel really well informed. Also we enjoy seeing the pictures on tapestry. The parents evening are always very informative.
I would and do recommend this treasure of place. It really has given the most special memories to all my children and continues to with my son. I wouldn’t change it for the world.'
'I would just like to feedback on what an incredible team you have at the pre-school. The level of professionalism is way above and beyond what we’ve encouraged at other nurseries locally. My child s thriving under your care, and is always happy to attend the setting. I have no worries or concerns sending her to the setting, and am counting down the days until my other child can also join.'
'We are really happy with the care that our daughter is receiving. We think she is thriving and she is always happy to go. We are happy with the feedback we receive each day, there is always someone to tell us what she’s been up to. There are also lots of opportunities for parental engagement as you run lots of fundraising events so we get to be involved with the setting as much as we can/want to.
We are happy that the planning is always sent to us so that we know what she’s learning and doing at preschool so that we can talk about it, read the same stories etc and it’s also good for us to know that the provision is always changing to their interests.
We like that you provide a parents evening for us so that we can hear about how she is doing and it gives us more chance for in depth discussion that you don’t always get the chance to have at pick up and drop off. Happy with her observations on tapestry and I like that I can add my own on there so we can all see what she gets up to in the setting and when she’s home with us. Overall, super happy with you all and the care and learning opportunities you provide for her'.
'I have my 3rd child currently in Harbury Preschool. I had a child in Harbury preschool last time the preschool was inspected and the preschool has improved significantly over the time I have had children in the Preschool (Jan 2020-July 2021, March 2022-July 2023 and Jan 2025-present), particularly in relation to SEND.
The preschool has a lot of resources available to the children and I know my children all have happy memories of their time at preschool. My eldest has additional needs and the preschool staff (particularly Catherine) put a lot of time into helping my son cope. The techniques you introduced to us as a family and support you gave my son made a huge impact and those building blocks were integral to helping him for the first 2-3 years that he was in primary school. Your help to our son and its impact can not be underestimated.
The preschool does a brilliant program to support the transition into primary school and I believe that our son and our daughter both benefitted as a result of this. We had, originally, signed our youngest up to a different setting which our daughter had previously attended, but when we realised how the building blocks and transition had positively effected our son, we cancelled her place and moved her to the preschool.
I know you get to know all of the families and give them all of the support they need. I could not trust the team more - I know you all have the childrens safety and development at the heart of everything you do.
You never hear a bad word said about the preschool - and that is a huge testimony to you all.'
'My daughter’s progress at Harbury preschool has been amazing—she’s becoming so much more independent every day. She’s gaining confidence in so many areas, and it’s wonderful to see her thrive. She absolutely loves it at the preschool, and it’s easy to see why. The staff are excellent at communicating and always keep us informed, which we really appreciate. It’s such a friendly and welcoming environment, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience she’s having there.'
'Our son has absolutely thrived at Harbury preschool. When he started, he was shy and quiet around other children. Now he has made so many friends, and his confidence has grown dramatically.
The staff have been excellent with him. Our son has a huge interest in bugs and vegetables, and the staff have created activities based on his interests. It has made me so happy knowing he goes to a preschool that is child lead. Harbury preschool has provided all the materials for our son to be ready for school.
I look forward to sending my second child to the preschool in a few years'.
'I hold the pre-school and the team who run it in the highest regard. My daughter truly loves attending. She asks every day if it’s a pre-school day, with excitement and anticipation. She has developed in leaps and bounds since joining. You, Catherine, and the team take such care to provide a nurturing, caring and development-focussed environment, teaching our children how to engage in the world around them with positivity and interest. I could not ask for a better start in school life for my daughter'.
My daughter moved to Harbury Preschool in January this year after attending another nursery setting from the aged of 1.
Since moving to Harbury Preschool my daughter has flourished and it is wonderful to see and hear from her about the connections she is making and activities she gets involved in.
The preschool are excellent at communicating with parents and sharing what is on the curriculum for the next 2 weeks so we can carry on with some of the themes and activities at home. They are also proactive in identifying potential concerns and respond with sensitivity and professionalism, offering both emotional reassurance and practical strategies that foster resilience in the children. My daughter's key worker Anne met with me to discuss potential issues, which allowed me to speak to our GP and arrange the appropriate referrals. Anne was so lovely when chatting this through with me and it is clear that the staff genuinely care for the child in their care.
The preschool has a clear and compassionate approach to building emotional resilience, where children are encouraged to express their feelings in healthy ways. This emotional literacy, combined with strong communication between staff and families, plays a significant role in supporting children through difficult transitions and helping them develop coping skills. My daughter will often take her deep breathes when she gets upset and also encourages her dolls to do the same when playing.
I believe the preschool fosters a sense of community and belonging as well as supporting with everything needed for the children starting school. My daughter's speech, independence, imagination and skills have come on leaps and bounds since joining in January and most importantly she is happy and feels secure.
All of the staff are incredible and I feel blessed that my daughter gets to attend such a brilliant early years setting.'
'We are incredibly happy with Harbury preschool and how they have looked after both my children. My eldest child grew in so much confidence over the 5 terms he spent at the preschool and was he was definitely well prepared to start his school journey.
My youngest has only just started at the preschool and she has naturally taken a little while to settle, however the staff couldn’t have done anymore to help her. They have continued to be kind and caring towards her and helped her feel safe in the environment.
We could not have asked for a better preschool setting for our children to attend. All the staff are welcoming, considerate and kind and create a wonderful nurturing environment for the children. Tapestry is updated well, informing us of what the children have been up to as well as their progress. Parents evenings are also informative and give opportunities to ask and answer questions linked to the children’s progression. Harbury preschool always seems such a wonderful happy environment, where the children excel and progress well.'
'As a parent of a child attending Harbury Pre School, I can whole heartedly say that I couldn’t imagine taking my child to any other setting and they have been fantastic with our son.
He had suffered with health problems prior to attending the pre school which put him back in terms of his confidence and development.
They have been incredibly understanding, supportive and attentive to his situation and very much treat the children on an individual basis, taking care of all those who attend.
On top of this, he also suffers with food allergies and once more they have been fantastic with managing this, and one of the huge positives for us was the fact that they allow them to take their own lunch boxes whereas most pre schools don’t these days.
They encourage themed activities to aid development in an enjoyable way, and vary the topics they focus on regularly to aid stimulation. They continuously change the displays and play areas within the room which helps with keeping the children entertained and this allows them to tailor the activities to their planned themes.
We are really happy with the pre school and the staff, who build a great rapport with each of the children, who allocate key mentors with regular updates and parents evenings to monitor progress. We are already planning for our daughter to attend as soon as she is old enough to next year too.'
