Catherine kilbey

Manager/SENDCO and Designated Safeguarding Lead

After graduating University with a Business and Law degree, I worked in retail management and Human Resources until the birth of my 2 children. Whilst they were little I started my own childminding business looking after children from 6 months to 11years old. During this time I learnt a lot about managing my own childcare business and teaching children through the Early Years Foundation Stage. I completed my Level 3 in Childcare with a particular Interest in working with children with special educational needs.

I joined Harbury Pre-School in 2017 and became the Manager in January 2018. I spend half of my time working with the children which is where I want to be, it is such a great age to work with. I love reading stories, singing songs, leading music and movement, and getting involved in their role playing (given the chance)

Outside Pre-School I enjoy spending time with family and friends, photography, reading and of course shopping.

Deputy Manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead

I grew up on the South Coast and after gaining the NNEB (National Nursery Examination Board Certificate) I took my first position at the University of Sussex Crèche and Nursery. I went on after that to work in a variety of different Early Years settings with babies and children aged 0-5 years ranging from workplace and private nurseries to an LEA funded nursery school with 40 children attending each session! After taking a break to have my own two daughters, I returned to work. When my youngest daughter who attended the Pre-School moved on to school, I did some agency work in local children’s centres before joining the Harbury Pre-School staff team in 2010. All of this has given me over 30 years of experience since first gaining my qualification.

I feel privileged to share in the awe and wonder that fascinates and inspires young children to learn and I love to support them through their play as they develop friendships, communication skills, personal interests and independence.

In my own time I enjoy spending time with my family including our dog that I train and compete with as a member of a Warwickshire based Flyball team. I also enjoy cooking, gardening and generally being outside, especially beside the sea when I rekindle my own childhood experiences.

Early Years Practitioner/Session Leader

Originally from Birmingham I moved to Bishops Itchington where my husband and I raised three children. I returned to work through a 1:1 position at the Primary School within Special Needs. Moving on to the onsite Busy Bees Pre-school where I acquired my NVQIII in Early Years. In 2017 I joined Harbury Pre-school and next year complete my 20th year in Early Years.

I enjoy watching the world change and our lives evolve through caring, teaching and learning with the children. Out of work I like to spend time with my family and friends, playing tennis, pilates, going horse riding and learning Modern Greek.

Early Years Practitioner/Session Leader/SENDCO

I live in Napton-on-the-hill with my husband and two children, Ethan and Amelia. I am originally from North Wales and studied History and Archaeology for my first degree followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Disability Studies. After graduating, I worked as an Administrator for a number of small disability-related charities and research projects. After my children were born, I benefited greatly from the support of the local children's centre and Pre-school. I decided I wanted to 'give something back' so started volunteering in my local Pre-School and assisting with running toddler and messy play groups at the Children's Centre. I had found my passion, so enrolled for the Level 2 Early Years Workforce Diploma in 2012. I started working in my local Pre-School initially and joined Harbury Pre-School in January 2015. I completed my Level 3 in 2018.

Outside of Pre-School, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking part and volunteering at my local parkrun and I am currently re-learning the piano.
