Sessions & fees

How much will my child’s education and care cost?

As a non-profit making charitable organisation, we aim to keep our fees as low as possible. Harbury Pre-School is managed by a committee of parent volunteers who contribute their time thereby reducing overall costs. The membership, who are parents of the children currently attending Pre-School, elect the Committee at an annual general meeting. The Committee is governed by a constitution and assumes overall responsibility for the Pre-School business and charitable funds.

The fees you pay are additional to the government funding and allow for our session times to be longer than the funded hours, and to pay for your child’s healthy snack. We have a healthy eating policy and encourage the children to try new healthy snacks with their peers. We at Harbury Pre-School take pride in our team of fully qualified and experienced staff who work in line with legal requirements at adult to child ratios no greater than 1:8 for 3 and 4-year olds, and 1:4 for 2-year olds. We believe this enables us to deliver the level of care and opportunities required to provide your child with educationally stimulating activities and experiences during every session.

“The quality of teaching is very good. All staff fully understand how children learn and they plan challenging activities to help them develop new skills”. Quoted from our Ofsted report, May 2016

Payment & Fees

Universal Funding or 30 hours Free Entitlement (38 weeks per year):

If eligible, you will be able to use all or part of your child’s Universal 15 hours funding. Pre-School will organise Universal funding and you will simply be asked to fill in the Warwickshire County Council parental declaration form to facilitate this. 2 Year Funding is also accepted. We accept children from 2 years 9 months

For 30 hours funding you will need to apply online during the term of your child’s 3rd birthday to receive the additional 15 hours extended entitlement.

You are eligible to claim either Universal 15 hours or a 30 hours entitlement government funded place from the start of the term after your child’s 3rd birthday. The cut-off dates for the three terms are usually:

31st August – autumn term

31st December – spring term

31st March – summer term

This means that if, for example, your child is born on 1st January, funding will not start until the beginning of the summer term. For you to claim funding, your child must be in attendance prior to the terms headcount date set by Warwickshire County Council

If your child attends another childcare setting you may already be using some or all of your entitlement there, and may not be entitled to funding for all the available funded hours at Pre-School. Full fees apply in this situation or for any other hours after those that are government funded.

Go to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk for further information and to apply for your 30 hours eligibility code.

Fees per session for the 2020-21 academic year are as follows and are reviewed annually:

Children attending Lunch Club bring a packed lunch. Children who attend morning or afternoon sessions can attend at an additional cost (see above fee table), however, Lunch Club is included in the fee for those children attending a full day session (see session times below). Charges for part funded sessions cover additional care and including anything else e.g. snacks.

All fees are payable either termly, half-termly or by arrangement with our bookkeeper, we also require a FULL term’s notice should you wish to withdraw from any contracted sessions.

We allow additional ad hoc sessions and lunch club attendance if ratios allow and if agreed in advance with the Session Manager. This allows children to meet other children from their normal session and allows parents peace of mind when they have a commitment to attend. These are additional sessions on top of the contracted sessions each term and are payable on a non-funded basis. You will be billed within the month and payment terms are 30 days.

Funding can be used within the above standard sessions and is limited to 2.5 hours per session delivering a total of up to 25 funded hours available across the week for 38 weeks per academic year.

We have a minimum two session policy for all children at Harbury Pre-School as this helps your child to be supported by both their key person and other staff members. This would be preferable over 2 different days so that children are given the opportunity to meet new friends and helps with settling in.

All children are assigned a key person. The key person will help your child feel settled and is a known contact for you and your family. Furthermore, the key person helps to ensure that every child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs. Our experienced staffing team work together to understand and observe each child during their play and group activities. Positive relationships with every child enables us to have a careful and comprehensive understanding of their development, interests and progress. Your child’s key person will create a learning journal containing all aspects of your child’s learning. We value partnership working with parents and offer all parents’ opportunities to celebrate and share their child’s learning throughout the year.

Fully Funded hours - £0 Charge

The Pre-School are offering 3 Fully Funded 15 hour places in the Autumn Term to any three or four-year-old child entitled to 3 and 4 year old Funded Place, or 2 year 9 month year olds entitled to a 2 year Funded Place, and will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. The date for applications will be 8am on Monday 13th July 2020. As we have 2 children continuing with us in September, we will have one place available for the Autumn term. This will be reviewed for January.

(Full days will be charged at the day rate of £20 per day) There is a minimum 4 session requirement to ensure your child gets the most out of their Pre-School time. These sessions can be subject to change depending on session availability, however this will be agreed at the start of term, and will remain for the duration of that term following headcount day. Parents are able to pay for lunch club at a cost of £5.50.

There is a voluntary donation for fully funded places to cover the cost of snacks. This is £1 per week for 15 hours, and £2 per week for 30 hours. This will be invoiced in the usual manner.
