Hello and welcome to our webpage!
Our Toddler group meets on Monday mornings at the Wight School and we welcome children from the age of 0 - 4 and their parents/carers.
Our aim is to enhance the development and education of children primarily under statutory school age by encouraging parents and carers to understand and provide for the needs of their children through community groups by:
Monday mornings 9.30am - 11.30am
We meet during Harbury Primary School term times and also run sessions over the summer holidays, to which you can bring older siblings if you wish.
Sessions have anything from 6 - 20 children plus their carers who can be grandparents and dads as well as mum!!
50 pence per adult and 50 pence per child over 9 months (babies under 9 months are free).
Harbury Toddler Group is run on a voluntary basis by the adults who attend. The sessions are very informal - lots of playing time for the children and chatting time for the Mums/Dads/Carers!! We aim to do a craft activity with the children during the first hour or so, then it's juice or water and biscuit time (tea and coffee for the adults). Afterwards there is time for more playing in our fantastic outdoor play area (weather permitting) and singing at the end to calm everyone down!!
We are a very friendly bunch and the annual events in the Toddler calendar include:
The group is completely self-funding and is a registered charity, so occasionally we do some fund raising too. The money goes towards subsidising our various events, replacing the toys and helping to refurbish the Wight School building.
Sessions are run on a rota basis by two helpers (the Mums/Dads or Carers who attend), who think of a craft activity for the children, set out other toys and make the drinks for all who attend. The rotas are prepared by a member of the committee and everyone gets a turn to run the session but don't worry about this as we will always put you with someone who has done it before (we were all new ourselves once!).
When you arrive all you need to do is record your names in the register, put your money in the tin and record what drinks you would like for later. Sometimes it may be necessary to help set things up if the volunteers are running a bit behind schedule (generally we just help each other out). At the end of each session, everyone joins in to help clear away.
Please feel free just to come along to one of our sessions - you don't need to book in advance. But if you do have any questions please email us on harbury_toddlers@hotmail.com
That's about all there is to know, we look forward to meeting you!
